Office hours: Mon, Wed: 2 - 3pm Cory Course Description This course provides an introduction to the modern state space theory of linear systems for students of circuits, communications, controls, and signal processing. In some sense it is a second course in linear systems, since it builds on an understanding that students have seen linear systems in use in at least some context before. The course is on the one hand quite classical and develops some rather well developed material, but on the other hand is quite modern and topical in that it provides a sense of the new vistas in embedded systems, computer vision, hybrid systems, distributed control, game theory and other current areas of strong research activity. Topics include: A review of linear algebra and matrix theory. The solutions of linear equations. Least-squares approximation, linear programming, singular value decomposition and principal component analysis.

Our motivation was to write a book on linear systems that covers finite- dimensional linear systems, always keeping in mind the main purpose of engineering and applied science, which is to analyze, design, and improve the performance of phy- sical systems.
To include a comma in theorh tag, surround the tag with double quotes. We assume that a typical reader with an engineering background will have gone through the conventional undergraduate single-input single-output linear systems course; an elementary course in fallier is not indispensable but may be useful for motivation.
CALLIER DESOER LINEAR SYSTEMS THEORY PDF
Frank M. Callier , Charles A. Desoer This volume is intended for engineers in research and development and applied mathematicians. It is also designed to be a useful reference for graduate students in linear systems with interests in control. With this purpose in mind, the discrete-time case is treated in an isomorphic fashion with the continuous-time case. This volume is self-contained: four mathematical appendices develop the many specialized mathematical results needed in the main text. In the development of Linear System Theory emphasis is placed on careful and precise exposition of fundamental concepts and results.
